Bradford Cox, lead-man for indie rock band deerhunter, has once again caught my attention with the psychedelically intriguing music of his side project Atlas Sound.I have heard Atlas Sound before, but today was the first time I really got a chance to "take it all in" if you will. As I was driving over the bridge onto Galveston island, I was completely lost in their music. I had my sunroof open, my windows down, and my sound system blaring loud enough to upset my highway neighbors. Sorry guys! The wind was cold, the sun was out, and the ocean was sparkling. I glanced at the Artist/Title of this particular song, and then caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror with a ridiculous smirk on my face (not because of the over sized sunglasses I chose to wear today). I smiled, because I pictured myself frolicking about with this song in my head. The title, "Walkabout", is beyond appropriate. What a playful anecdote to a winter drive in Texas. Keep up the good work captains!
